for all the rotations life makes in an arduous circle, for all the moments of poignant self assurance and authored purpose, we act with ourselves in mind, above all else. virtue remains to be an appointed game of performances and delusion. all action is unapologetically selfish, and intervention is a guise of the tender heart. yet disengagement is merely a trivial device. to act in spite of net conservation is courage in its highest form. participate in carnage, play the honest part in alignment with one's intrinsic path. understand temperament, overcome temptation, make marginal change. the moral question is one of aesthetic preference, and the Kantian imperative is a farce. divinity is a radio station, and peace is a clean signal. listen for tonality within the dissonance, or drown in static noise.
